Welcome to the play in schools website - for people who are passionate about putting play
back into the playground!
This site has been launched to coincide with the publication of Playtime!, a
book and
DVD from Common Threads which provides advice and support to anybody who wants
to make school playtimes really great - for children and for adults.
But this site is about lots more than just one resource! As a result of our work with the
schools in the Playtime! project we have linked up with other organisations and individuals,
all of whom have developed theory and practice about play in schools. People who work in and
with schools have also asked us for help in finding resources and research to 'argue the case'
for children's play.
So this website aims to share good practice to raise the importance of play in schools - not
only during playtimes but also throughout the extended services agenda.
